While a disturbing event, it's instructive in many ways: 

Can anyone explain why Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were not on cable 24x7 during the episode?
Why did the ACLU stand by while a citizen was beaten for expressing his first amendment rights?
Why are the attackers getting a pass?
Does this really mean that violence in the US is colorblind, and that folks like Jesse Jackson are now dispensable?
Why isn't the "party of the little guy" saying more about this?

I'm sure you can think up more, but you get the point.

If It's so Great, Why Isn't Congress Enrolled in it?

One feature of the new Health Care Bill is that Congress is exempt and will keep their own plan.  While supremely elitist, it's not really a surprise given how they have acted for the last 20 years.  We could solve all these health care and pension issues if we ordinary citizens could sign up for the same Health Care and retirment plans that Congress votes itself. (the fact that we would bankrupt ourselves beyond belief - over and above the ridiculous plans being proposed  - is immaterial)  

As you ponder that thought, consider this wonderful comparison, via Hot Air.

" If Communism is such a benefit to its people, why do you have to force people to participate in it? The answer: Statism always requires force, and it always strips people of liberty. It always comes with handcuffs. That’s how we know it’s coming."

 
And a second statement from Rep Peter Roksam:

Health Care is a Right?

Amongst the rhetoric coming from our Democratic friends, the mantra that "health care is a right" is one the more frequent assertions made.  So, if health care is a right, why can't I choose the plan I want?

If I want to practice a religion, I can attend the church of my own choosing.
If I want to read a newspaper, there are hundreds to pick from
If I want to hang out with some people, I can pick who, when and where I want to
If I want to buy a gun, I can pick from many types and models
If I want to yell Obama is an asshole from the highest mountain top, I can choose the mountain
If I get arrested, I can pick my own lawyer
When I vote, I can pick who I want
I can drink, and pick what I want to drink.
I don't have to let soldiers in my house, and the cops have to get a warrant to come in
If I had a 15 year old daughter and she got pregnant, she can choose to have an abortion
If I'm Hillary Clinton, I can wear outrageous pantsuits in many fashion colors
 
But I'm being forced to accept a health care bill that takes my freedom to choose away. 
 
It's wrong, that those who wrote it, and those who support it, and those who enable it are wrong.  Very Wrong.

Everyone Pays

We all know that Democrats (and some Republicans) just love taxes.  It gives them money to spend on things that helps them maintain power.  And if they can't raise the money they need, they just borrow it from our unborn grandkids, but that's another post.
 
Most recently, our Congressfolks have written a combined 2,500 pages of drivel that purports to nationalize our health care system, while criminalizing what I would consider First Amendment rights of all Americans.  
 
The folks at Hot Air summarized the entire purpose of the Obamaphiles in one statement:

"Has the middle class discovered the biggest lie of the Obama campaign yet? When statist policies get imposed, everyone pays. Everyone."

The Latest Health Care Bill

I'm certain that Congress has our well being in mind when they write crap like this excerpt from the newest version of the Health Care Bill:
 

"Pg. 1516 regulates vending machines: In the case of an article of food sold from a vending machine that ‘‘(I) does not permit a prospective purchaser to examine the Nutrition Facts Panel before purchasing the article or does not otherwise provide visible nutrition information at the point of purchase; and ‘‘(II) is operated by a person who is engaged in the business of owning or operating 20 or more vending machines, the vending machine operator shall provide a sign in close proximity to each article of food or the selection button that includes a clear and conspicuous statement disclosing the number of calories contained in the article."

 
I have an idea:  We will allow Congress to pass however many pages of the bill that Nancy Pelosi can eat in 30 minutes.  
 
All you folks who voted for these Democrat-Idiots should have write the contents of the bill on the blackboard 100 times before dinner or until you die, whichever comes first.

Jenny Blows

Everyone, of course, remembers the quote attributed to Jennifer Granholm during the last campaign:  "in five years, you're going to be blown away..."  Well, the blows part did come true. 
 
Anyway, we've also heard a load of hooey from the Guvnerette about wind power and green jobs, etc.  Here's a refresher:   (Granholm Says Renewable Energy Sector...)

"Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today said that Michigan's plan to diversify the state's economy by growing the renewable energy sector to create jobs is the right plan for Michigan...."By investing in our work force, manufacturing infrastructure, and natural resources, we can make Michigan the state that helps end our nation's dependence on foreign oil and create good- paying jobs in the process." Granholm said. "Michigan is uniquely positioned to diversify its economy and create jobs by growing the renewable energy sector."

The Germans have been doing this for a while, with less than impressive results.  

"While employment projections in the renewable sector convey seemingly impressive prospects for gross job growth, they typically obscure the broader implications for economic welfare by omitting any accounting of off-setting impacts. These impacts include, but are not limited to, job losses from crowding out of cheaper forms of conventional energy generation, indirect impacts on upstream industries, additional job losses from the drain on economic activity precipitated by higher electricity prices, private consumers' overall loss of purchasing power due to higher electricity prices, and diverting funds from other, possibly more beneficial investment."

Stimulus Bill Creates 1.06 jobs in Wyandotte!

Howz that stimulus working for ya, Wyandotte? 
 
Disaster: Hard Stimulus Data Reveals That Michigan "Saved Or Created" Only 397 Jobs For 620 Million Stimulus Dollars, FAR Short Of 19,500 Claim
 
On a per-capita basis, that means the stimulus created 1.06 jobs in Wyandotte. 

Heck, you could have bought $620 million worth of Michigan Lotto tickets, tossed any winnings off the top of the Fisher Building and still have created a better economic impact.  And you would have funded the schools, too.
 
I can't even invent an adjective to describe how totally disgusting this debacle has been.   
 
Tomorrow I get to work a camera in the Wyandotte Cable Studio when Representative Cheeks-Kilpatrick explains all this to our community.  I've already started drinking in anticipation.

Obama: I'll Screw your Grandkids for $250

The next phase of selling Obamacare has begun:  Obama is now pandering to seniors.  With no COLA this year for Social Security and the upcoming pillaging of Medicare, he has nothing to offer our seniors except a lousy $250.  And for that, he expects them to quiet, wave your flags at the parade, and stand by while I pass these bills that screw your grandkids by saddling them with all that debt.

Waterfront Delusions

In recent years, Wyandotte's City Council has been suffering from delusions regarding the ability of a "transient marina" to somehow revitalize our downtown area.  If you do the math, it's a total loser of a project that won't pay for itself in any way, and won't really provide a substantial downtown boost.  Perhaps the City Council has some study that can explain all this, but I'm not aware of it.  During the City's Strategic Planning Session last month the Marina was poorly supported, except by the vocal minority of merchants at the meeting, who can always be counted on to use the taxpayers money for their benefit.   
 
Now, the Secretary of Transportation is selling the same hooey to Detroit:  
 
"U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says Detroit's planned $22 million ferry and cruise-ship terminal is a key part of revitalizing the area's economy."

Woo.  2 cruise ships a year, and Diamond Jacks.  It's working wonders in Wyandotte, so it's gotta work in Detroit, too!

Mr. Congeniality

I saw on the news this morning that President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize.  It's amazing (but not surprising) that you can actually win a Peace Prize without creating any peace.   
 
Frankly, since they gave a Peace Prize to Jimmah Carter it's clear that the Nobel Committee is made up of society dilettantes and various euro-commie weenies.  And it's obvious that they are giving him this award for trying hard and being nice.  And I'm sure the media will spend the next few media cycles fawning over his non-accomplishments and all the potential wonderful things that will come of this. 
 
Just like those beauty pageant contestants who vote among themselves for the nicest one of the bunch.

Ironic Spending Moment of the Week

Note here that Congress voted itself a budget increase this year, so as to continue their super good work in governing us while borrowing money from our unborn grandkids.

The first thing that comes to mind is WHAT TOWN HALL MEETINGS?  I'm sure we all noticed how our elected representatives all ran for the phone banks instead of having actual town hall meetings over health care.

Want some Cheese with that Whine?

Well, now our Esteemed Congressmom Carolyn Kilpatrick issued the following statement on behalf of ACORN.  Suffice it to say it's a load of hooey.  Below please find her statement with some choice comments, or shall we say, "cheese for the whine."  

"I oppose the final version of the Legislative Branch Appropriations bill, which includes language that would ban funding for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). While ACORN has fallen under media scrutiny for actions reported by the media, no criminal charges have been filed against ACORN, no indictment has been reached against ACORN, and no trial by jury has taken place regarding ACORN."

So what?  She and the Democrats persecuted Bush, Cheney and others while ignoring the blatant acts by William "Cold Cash" Jefferson, Charles Rangel and other Democrats. 

"I support an investigation of ACORN, and ACORN has already moved forward with an objective, unbiased investigation of these allegations. Instead of acting on factual data, Congress is reacting based on media reports of alleged wrongdoing. All Americans have the presumption of innocence. With this vote, Congress has ignored this presumption, and the Constitution, as well. This vote against ACORN—or any liberal, conservative, or independent organization without merit—is wrong. In these economically and socially difficult times, Congress must utilize leadership, reason, sense, and sanity. This vote is not sound leadership, and it is not what the American people expect or need.‪" 

I'm not sure if the investigator is unbiased.  And since when has Congress relied on factual data?  The fiction of our budgets, health care reform and other fallacies clearly illustrates that facts are to be ignored when inconvenient.  

"Congress should not, and must not, start punishing individuals, businesses, or groups without a fair trial. Congress must not assume guilt based on media reports, Internet chat rooms, or anything less than a complete and full investigation of the facts by the appropriate law enforcement agency. Some Members of Congress have even questioned the Constitutionality of Congress’ refusing funds to inflict punishment on individuals without a fair trial. While I am not an expert on the Constitution, I do know that we must protect the rights of all individuals. The language in this bill, which would ban federal funds for ACORN for the length of any Continuing Budget Resolution, is wrong. It is wrong to punish organizations or individuals without trial, and it is wrong because it totally obscures the good work that groups like ACORN have done for years. It is wrong because Congress must lead and not follow."

‪I don't even know where to start with that one.  That block is so full of hooey it's oozing all over the screen.  

"ACORN has operated for almost 20 years fighting for poor people. The organization has registered voters and attained housing for low income individuals and families." 

Missed the grammar on that section.  But at least she didn't pull the race card.  

"This vote sets a very chilling precedent of acting first and asking questions or investigating later. I do not know the merits, or lack thereof, of ACORN’s alleged wrongdoing. I do know that when Congress acts without the complete set of facts and does not consider the ramifications that this precedent sets, it hurts all Americans."

Not very logical is it?  How can this be a precedent, when Congress has acted this way in the past?
 
Let's just say that we disagree on matter.
