May, Month of Woe

Been a bit busy in May:

  • Went to Las Vegas
  • Basement flooded at home
  • Broke a Crown
  • There was fire in the building next to my wife's business
  • Wife was hospitalized before we came back from Vegas
  • Finally got back 7 days later
  • Still have a job, but GM bankruptcy looms over our contracts.
  • Been cleaning the basement.  Wife is recuperating.
  • Got a ticket in Detroit
  • Obama still President, nationalizing everything in sight
  • Republicans acting like wussies

Wah Wah to me.

Don't Forget: Wyandotte Votes on Tuesday

There's a City and School Board election in Wyandotte this Tuesday.  Don't forget to vote.  It's your chance to let those ba**ards know what you think and want.

There's a pretty decent crop of Council and School Board Candidates.  Watch the Council, though.  Methinks we have a few too many Mayors on the horseshoe.  One is enough in my view.  And we could use fewer incumbent Councilfolk, too.

The School Board is a basket case, perhaps a few new folks can bring some order.  Maybe they just need a Sergeant at Arms who whacks them in the head when they say or do something stupid.

Just vote.

Lying Bastards

While not a surprise, you can just feel the dishonesty when you hear the weasels shilling for Obama's "Tax Cut":

"...the "tax cut" referred to amounts to an average $8-a-week reduction in Social Security taxes deducted from paychecks (and does not relieve those workers from the tax liability at year's end). And, for those who pay no income tax, it is in the form of checks called "rebates." If you don't pay taxes there is nothing to rebate. What they amount to are transfers from Americans who pay taxes to those who don't, a.k.a. welfare."  Obama's Tea-Leaf Readers

So, if I'm saving $450 bucks in withholding, I guess you could imply I might gain about $30 in interest during the year I hold that money before I have to give it to the bastards anyway.  That's IF you pay taxes.  If you don't actually pay any tax, you just get free money from those who do.

So, essentially he saved me one tank of gas for the car.  Or less, if cap and trade passes.

Big whoop.

Lying bastards@!

Obama's Wonderful Sense of Irony

Ya gotta love this guy.  Here's today's choice quote:

"A high-speed rail corridor through the industrial Midwest – linking Toledo, Detroit, Chicago and more – is one of the potential recipients of billions of dollars in funding in federal grants announced Thursday morning by President Barack Obama"

Story here at the FREEP.

He dismantles the car companies and uses our scarce tax dollars to build a high speed train that will NEVER break even as a business, so we can travel to Chicago to go shopping!

And we are supposed to feel good about this?

Tea Party in Lansing / April 15

I went to the Tax Day Tea Party in Lansing on April 15.  It was a beautiful day, and a nice time at the party.  The crowd numbered about 4,000 by my estimate, and was super nice and well behaved.  I met folks from all over the state, saw Joe the Plumber, and basically commiserated about our excessive government with like minded folks who are also upset at the direction our country has taken.

There is coverage all over the internet, but this excerpt from Hot Air summarizes my feelings on the matter pretty well:  York: Look for Tea Party meaning in the small towns

"Just as the raiders protested tax policies imposed on them from a distant and mostly unresponsive British government, the American people have finally tired of power moving away from localities and states and to a federal government much more interested in pork patronage than in the actual priorities of each community.

That impulse does not belong solely to the Democratic Party. Republicans have fed at the pork trough, which creates more federal power over the money of the American people and less control over the governance by the citizenry. The founders never envisioned having the entire nation run by 535 people in the District of Columbia, with the states subservient to the mandates of Congress and the President. They imagined a nation that mostly governed itself, with a federal government that had the authority to enforce the Constitution and to defend itself."

Translation:  it's a lot easier to prevent Mayor DeSana from spending $1.5 million on a useless marina than it is to keep Momma Kilpatrick from giving $1.5 million to those thugs from ACORN.

I'm sure there will be more Tea Parties.  And I think this kind of grass roots activism will make a difference in 2010.

Carbon Taxes and Wyandotte

One pillar of Obama's plan is energy, more specifically alternative energy.  One key element of his plan is to make traditional forms of energy, like coal, really expensive so folks will use other sources.

Carbon Taxes To Hit Big Coal Electric States Hardest

While Wyandotte is putting up some windmills, they will only account for 5% or so of our total energy needs.  And because of cap-and-trade, the cost of the other 95% of our energy will go up up up.

Just sayin'.

Dumping on Obama

It's getting boring, dumping on our new President.  He makes it soooo easy.  He's a bumblng fool of a socialist, all stoked up wtih his Saul Alinsky methodology and supported by the drive-by media.  He's Jimmy Carter all over again, with the sickly smile and a Kenyan half brother as the family buffoon.

At some point, his reign will end and our country can get back to normal.  But we have to wait until 2010 to boot the useless Democratic Congress from our midst.

My Easter Greeting to the Pirates

My plans to kick some Somali Pirate Ass:

1)  Get 6 Navy Seals.  Launch them from a covert op submarine about 100 feet beneath the life boat where those pirates are holding our guy hostage.  Have them swim upward and explode out of the water.  2 Seals grab the hostage and pull him off the boat.  The others take one pirate each and kill him.

2)  After the hostage is secured, we pick up the lifeboat (still containing the dead pirates) with a Seahawk Helicopter, take it to the pirate base, and drop it through the roof.

3)  One minute later about 20 GPS-guided bombs level this pirate base, all other pirate bases and all their ships, having been previously identified and targeted by satellite, aircraft reconnaissance and UAVs.

4)  Hillary Clinton goes on TV, and in her best snarky tone says that they better not do that again.

5)  Joe Biden goes to a news conference and praises the people of Iowa for a great grain harvest last fall.

Yeah, it's a fantasy.  At least numbers 1-3.  For all I know, 4 and 5 have already happened.

Oh, and Happy Easter.

EVENING UPDATE:  Didnt' exactly happen as I foresaw, but close.  And 3 of the Pirates are now fish food.

CNN: Hostage captain rescued; Navy snipers kill 3 pirates

By the way, I wonder if they were Muslim Pirates....

Our Contemptable President

Obama is heading for Jimmah Carter territory with his most recent antics in Europe.  Can't say it better than Ace of Spades:  President Obama's Attack on the U.S.

"The President's new comments aren't the mere embarrassments we've all come to expect from him over the past three months. Yes, he's a bumbling buffoon when it comes to representing America. It's not really something to get angry over. Rather, we'll just have to suffer until he and his wife learn on the job how to comport themselves with a little dignity.

On the other hand, this latest speech was planned and plotted, a neon-lighted "Fuck You" directed right at us while he campaigns for European Suck-up of the Year. And that is something to get angry over, the quisling fucker. The Powerline Guys use words like "contemptible", "reprehensible", "slanderous." All true, but it doesn't go far enough.

This guy is going to stand up Over There and badmouth Americans and President Bush? He's a coward with an inferiority complex, a desperate desire to win the approval of his perceived European betters. What an ass."

Yes, he's an ass.  A very dangerous ass.

Cryin' Towels and Really Small Violins

As a public service, I offer a cryin' towel and a free play of the "really small violin" to those Democrats and Liberals who are now upset, and with some reason.  I've been upset since W turned the Republican party into a group of wild spenders.  I can empathize with your irritation, having seen you witness:

- the end of the no tax increase promise with today's increase on cigarettes

- no more fiscal sanity with the return of larger deficits than even the evil Republicans were able to create

- the abandonment of Michigan and all those union jobs after being promised you would be taken care of

- the war is still going on, and we're sending more troops to Afghanistan

- since the Mayor sold us out, Carolyn Kilpatrick won't cross the Rouge River to explain anything

- witnessing the hipocracy of those tax cheats being exposed when nominated for cabinet posts

- finally realizing that we can't spend our way out of this mess, we have to grow our way out

And that's probably the worst...having to admit that Reagan was right.

Wah Wah Wah.

Depressed

Oh, the depresssion.  Job cutbacks, dread on the news.  Loss of 401k value.  Huge deficits and government giveaways.  Idiot representation.

Scott at Powerline sums things up pretty well:  Why I am depressed

"I am depressed because the president of the United States is a fool who will immiserate us, render us wards of the state and lose us our life and liberty to those who understand what they are about."

And we have to live in Detroit, too.

Senator Dumbass

Well, I got an email from Senator Stabenow today on the AIG issue:

"This morning, Senator Stabenow went to the Senate floor to speak about the outrageous bonuses being lavished on employees at AIG. She spoke about the outrageous double standard between Wall Street and America's automakers, who have submitted their management plans to the auto task force and are renegotiating contracts with their workers, who have already taken cuts. Our families are struggling, and those who got us into this mess should not be rewarded for their failure."

Oh, the irony.  Here's a woman who is loudly decrying the actions made by AIG which were either condoned or tolerated based on legislation she herself approved.  If she was so concerned by appearances, she could have inserted appropriate language into the legislation.

And we can see where this is going:  anyone who gets federal funds is now liable to the whims of the mob and high dugeon of political correctness.  Cashews instead of peanuts at your meeting?  Off with their heads.  Brand name instead of Generic copy paper?  Execution.  (no wait...Brand name paper union made.  Sorry about the execution thing...our mistake!)

It takes me back to Casablanca:  I'm shocked, SHOCKED to see that there is gambling here.

Dumbasses.

Veterans for Obama (NOT!)

Well, it's clear where Obama stands on our veterans:  "Free" Medical Care For Everyone Except..

The PowerLine guys do justice to this story:

"..the Obama administration is trying to socialize medical care. It wants the government to pay for everyone's health care, except--unbelievably--the care of veterans who were wounded in battle while serving their country."

Some additional coverage is here:  The American Legion Strongly Opposed to President's Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment

This should really not be a surprise to anyone who was paying attention during the campaign, however.  Remember when he went to play basketball in Germany rather than visit wounded troops?  I guess the troops will salute the SOB since it's in their nature to do so, but beyond that I think the disdain is clear.

We now have a Commander-in-Chief who is not fit to command.

Hopenchange!

He Tells Lies

You've heard the admonition:  "How can you tell if a politician is lying?  His mouth is moving."

It may be true, but Obama has used his considerable oratorical skills (and ability to read a teleprompter) to advance this to form of high art.

Here's a telling story by Charles Krauthammer:  Deception at Core of Obama Plans

"What's going on? "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste," said Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. "This crisis provides the opportunity for us to do things that you could not do before."

Things. Now we know what they are. The markets' recent precipitous decline is a reaction not just to the absence of any plausible bank rescue plan, but also to the suspicion that Obama sees the continuing financial crisis as usefully creating the psychological conditions -- the sense of crisis bordering on fear-itself panic -- for enacting his "Big Bang" agenda to federalize and/or socialize health care, education and energy, the commanding heights of post-industrial society."

And more here from the Wall Street Journal:  The Obama Economy

"So what has happened in the last two months? The economy has received no great new outside shock. Exchange rates and other prices have been stable, and there are no security crises of note. The reality of a sharp recession has been known and built into stock prices since last year's fourth quarter.

What is new is the unveiling of Mr. Obama's agenda and his approach to governance. Every new President has a finite stock of capital -- financial and political -- to deploy, and amid recession Mr. Obama has more than most. But one negative revelation has been the way he has chosen to spend his scarce resources on income transfers rather than growth promotion. Most of his "stimulus" spending was devoted to social programs, rather than public works, and nearly all of the tax cuts were devoted to income maintenance rather than to improving incentives to work or invest.

His Treasury has been making a similar mistake with its financial bailout plans. The banking system needs to work through its losses, and one necessary use of public capital is to assist in burning down those bad assets as fast as possible. Yet most of Team Obama's ministrations so far have gone toward triage and life support, rather than repair and recovery."

People are now saying Obama's incompetent.  He may be, but his actions are malicious and not in the best interests of our Republic.  It would seem, however, that folks are taking notice.  The bloom is off the rose, and time will tell if we can rip that sucker out by the roots.  Hopenchange!

United States of Zimbabwe

What would you say if I told you a country was taking substantial property from the rightful owners and giving it to those who did not earn it?

"With his nation’s economy in shambles, President Robert Mugabe threw himself a lavish 85th birthday party Saturday, using the opportunity to call on Zimbabwe’s last white farmers to leave.   “Land distribution will continue. It will not stop,” Mugabe said in Chinhoyi, 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Harare. “The few remaining white farmers should quickly vacate their farms as they have no place there.”  (Credit:  APNews

You though I was going to say USA, didn't you?  It's not as far fetched as you may think.  Look at Obama's budget, and listen to his rhetoric.

The comparison between Obama's policies and Mugabe's policies is direct and appropriate.  The fact that Mugabe is also black is merely a coincidence.
