The No Fun League also managed to be the Non Patriotic League last night by ignoring our troops at the start of the Super Bowl broadcast. No "salute to the troops." No well wishes or recognition of their sacrifices. Not even one of those feeds of the troops watching the game from a camp in Afghanistan.
Why neglect to do this? Are they concerned with offending the muslims in Qatar who might be staying up late to watch the game?
Of course, we get a silent tribute to Coretta Scott King and Rosa Parks. A hacked rendition of the National Anthem by 3 singers. Geriatric rock stars. And what is this with the "chick reporters" on the sidelines? Call me a dinosaur, but some things just aren't right.
In the end, a good game. But frankly, other than NASCAR, the major sports leagues just don't get it. And I watch NASCAR 5 times more than all other sports combined. Besides, they have jets at the start of their races.
Besides, Daytona is in a few weeks anyway.
