The massive $825 billion package is not even targeted on programs to stimulate the economy. Instead, it is laced with runaway government spending for increased welfare, overgrown bureaucracy, pork, political payoffs, and other waste. That runaway spending is causing record smashing deficits of $1.5 trillion or more, equivalent to over 50% of the entire federal budget for fiscal 2008."

Yup.  This is gonna hurt.  While we're paying connected Presidential buddies loads of borrowed tax dollars, he will be pandering to terrorists and gutting our defense institutions.  

Hopenchange.  Gack. 

What to do with the Gitmo Detainees

Now that we're fully into the Gelded Age, we need to discuss important stuff, like things that might get you blown up.  You can see on the news all the kerfuffle about Obama's campaign promises and the resultant backtracks, re-characterizations and adjustments.  

Take Gitmo:  Staunch Bush-hating anti-war types insist that Gitmo is wrong and those "possible terrorist-criminals" do not pose a danger to the USA or the world.  

A bit of rain on your parade:  Report: Ex-Gitmo detainee now al-Qaeda's No. 2 in Yemen

"Al-Shihri's case highlights the complexity of Obama's decision to shut down the detention center within a year despite the absence of rehabilitation programs for ex-prisoners in some countries, including Yemen. The Pentagon also has said more former ex-detainees appear to be returning to the fight against the U.S. after their release."

Once you get through Obama's executive orders, you realize he's not doing anything different than Bush.  And the best rehabilitation for a terrorist is a bullet to the head. 

In the end, the terrorists in Gitmo should be tried by Military Tribunal and hanged, shot, microwaved or attached to some daisy-cutters and dropped back into Afghanistan.  

We won't do that, of course, but it's a nice idea.

You don't register on his radar. Really. Step away from the mirror, quit feeling so self absorbed, and get some therapy as to what happened in your life that you would think some man in Washington DC gives a crap about what you think, how you feel, or whether you can make your mortgage payment. Did Daddy not pay you enough attention? 

Move on.

Biggest frickin' snow job I've ever seen and to see so many people falling all over themselves FOR A POLITICIAN makes me nauseous and I lose faith in humanity.

Dear President Obama-

You need to remember one thing. While your little girls are all nestled safely away in the finest schools that money can buy, with the highest tech security, everyone being so very vigilent over where they are and making sure they are safe...

... my kids are amongst the general public and if you don't be careful, it is MY kids that will have targets on their backs when it comes to terrorism.

Not yours.

Yours will be safe.

Do me a favor and keep mine safe too.

Only In France Does Dog Bite Man

You can't make this up..it had to happen so you could hear about it:  FoxNews French Poodle

"Former French President Jacques Chirac was rushed to a hospital after being mauled by his pet dog who is being treated for depression, in a dramatic incident that rattled the ex-president's wife."

Damn, it's a poodle, I'm sure even a 76 year old French guy can fight the thing off.  And it's depressed.  Maybe it's not even mad or grouchy.

My theory is that the Poodle had Bush Derangement Syndrome and just snapped.  I mean, it couldn't be anything else.  

With Obama as President, this stuff should not be happening.  We should dispatch Hillary! to talk the to the poodle and bring peace to the Chirac household. 

I'm sure she could do it, one bitch to another. 

Our Inaugural Disaster

Anyone who works and pays taxes should heed this warning from Mark Steyn on NRO:  The Inaugural Disaster

Here's what we're dealing with:

"At some point in the next four years, we will reach a situation where the majority of Americans pay no federal income tax but are able to vote themselves more goodies from those who do. The most basic of conservative principles is that if you reward bad behavior you get more of it. We now have a government offering trillion-dollar rewards for bad behavior to the financial system, to the housing market, to the auto unions, and to individual voters. And the heirs to those Connecticut town meetings that Tocqueville regarded as the best form of government ever devised by man now underbudget their snow-removal costs secure in the knowledge that the Feds will pick up the tab."

So when someone says we in Wyandotte should be happy that we took some tax dollar from some guy in North Dakota to put lights on Eureka Avenue, I say they are full of it.  Redistributing hard earned dollars from the successful to those who are not is stupid and does nothing to make more dollars. 

And subsidizing the ir-responsible to the detriment of the responsible is just plain wrong.  

And to take Mr. Steyn's argument to a logical conclusion, when the taxed, productive minority has had enough we might just get to party like it's 1776.

Black Tuesday

No pun intended on the title, but as the mock-up cover says we are fucked.  

For those of you who work and pay taxes, hold onto your wallets, it's going to be a wild ride (if the terrorists don't blow us up, first)

I hate to be so pessimistic, but I have not heard one thing that makes me feel better towards the future.  And the Republicans are pretty useless at this point.

Holy Crap, Batman!

I was in the 7-11 tonight getting some milk and ginger ale.  When I got to the counter, there was a package of "Obama Trading Cards" just in time for inauguration.  Collect all 10, swap 'em with your friends, or just get them to remember this historic moment blah blah blah.

This has been the most over exposed, over-hyped and over-merchandised (and over expensed) inauguration in American history.  See this:  Inaugural Day 2009

So I make my plea for Obama Toilet Paper.  Every morning, I want to rub his smiling face on my backside, if anything to remember that in 4 years we might was well use dollars....because if Obama and the Democrats pursue their current policies, that's all the dollar will be worth.

Wyandotte's Edifice Complex

Another year has passed and the City is engaged in yet another dubious building deal.  This time, our Mayor, Council and DDA are continuing to pursue the rehabilitation of the money pit known as the old Masonic Temple.  Latest story here:

Now, us taxpayers are going to on the hook for over $1 million for this useless boondoggle.  You can read the article and the history of this transaction in past posts.  

At the end of the day, what can they do at the Masonic Temple that couldn't be done in the basement of City Hall?  Even if you spent $100,000 fixing up City Hall, you'd still have the space you needed and would saved over $1 million on the deal.  Lord knows we have other issues in the City, such as underfunded pensions, dilapidated infrastructure, etc we could spend that million bucks on. 

Now, some folks might say "you can't do that at City Hall because of the mold problems, asbestos, etc."  Then why in the hell are we consolidating City Government into a building that might be unusable and unsafe?  Move those folks to the BankOne building and be done with City Hall.  The bulldozer can take it down with the Fogel Furnture building in the spring.  

It defies logic.  Not that I'm surprised.  

"Atlas Shrugged" is Coming True

Anyone who has read "Atlas Shrugged" will implicitly know the parallels between the story and our recent government policies.

"One memorable moment in "Atlas" occurs near the very end, when the economy has been rendered comatose by all the great economic minds in Washington. Finally, and out of desperation, the politicians come to the heroic businessman John Galt (who has resisted their assault on capitalism) and beg him to help them get the economy back on track. The discussion sounds much like what would happen today:

Galt: "You want me to be Economic Dictator?"

Mr. Thompson: "Yes!"

"And you'll obey any order I give?"

"Implicitly!"

"Then start by abolishing all income taxes."

"Oh no!" screamed Mr. Thompson, leaping to his feet. "We couldn't do that . . . How would we pay government employees?"

"Fire your government employees."

"Oh, no!"

Abolishing the income tax. Now that really would be a genuine economic stimulus. But Mr. Obama and the Democrats in Washington want to do the opposite: to raise the income tax "for purposes of fairness" as Barack Obama puts it."

How true.
