Was in Meijer today getting an optical cable for an HDTV. The store was busy with bargain seekers looking for after Christmas sale items.
I noticed what I assumed was muslim woman in a full burka (only eye slits and the palms of her hands showing) with a selection of eye shadow, rouge, mascara and other makeup in her basket.
Yeah, that stuff will come in handy.
I just wanted to let you know that we will be driving to Atlanta from Detroit for the Christmas Holiday this year. While my wife doesn't like driving in the mountains that much in the winter, the alternative of flying has become much less attractive than in the past.
The extremely restrictive reservations policies of your industry make it virtually impossible to change our plans in any reasonable economic way. The charges for baggage are atrocious, and the resultant scramble for bins on the flight are worse than the after Thanksgiving sales at the mall.
Elimination of meal service forces us to grab a sandwich or some lesser fare as we clamber to get on the flight.
And now the security situation is reprehensible. As the airline, it's your job to stand up for the passenger. You have abdicated this responsibility to a useless government agency. And what they are doing is not going to add one bit to security, and will cost US time as we wait for further checks.
So, we drive. To the beach in the summer, and to mom's in the winter. And other places too. I'm a romantic flyer and just love to fly. My father took me to the airport when I was 2 years old to watch the planes. I'm approaching 50, and after over 500,000 miles, it's still fun. The flying, that is.
So start focusing on your customers, really focusing on them. I still recall the days of the Delta Family in Atlanta, and the days when the staff bought you plane. You staff has always been great. But your leadership needs to consider where you are going.
I SENT THIS TO DELTA'S COMMENT ADDRESS 2 DAYS AGO...
AND DELTA REPLIES...
Dear Mr. Sir,
Thank you for contacting us.
As you know, our company has gone through tremendous, and sometimes painful, changes in the last several years. Delta is implementing a plan for a newly-structured, customer-focused company, with a cost structure that allows us to remain viable and compete aggressively wherever we choose to fly. However we most certainly welcome your comments.
We appreciate your interest in Delta Air Lines.
Sincerely,
Joe Franco

The Obama Tax Increase is coming soon, unless Congress gets its shit together and sends Obama the bill to continue the current tax rates (i.e. the Bush Tax Cuts) as they are. Of course the bastard has to sign the thing, too. Everyone except for a die-hard commie would agree that ANY tax increase in this economy would doom or delay the recovery.
So, in what could be her swan song, be sure to contact Mama Cheeks-Kilpatrick as soon as possible and demand that she vote for this bill. Who knows, she might actually commit an act of integrity and support the current rates for ALL before she ends her career. For all I know she's not paying attention since her web site has not been updated since her primary defeat and I sent an email that bounced back.
And here's what can happen if they DON'T fix this: PJM: The 2011 Tax Tsunami
Here's the bill that was introduced today:
Pence, DeMint Introduce Legislation to Stop $3.9 Trillion Tax Hike
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana) and U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) introduced the Tax Relief Certainty Act, a bill that would permanently extend the current individual tax rates and prevent tax increases on every American.
“Raising taxes during the worst economy in 25 years is simply a bad idea,” Congressman Pence said. “Higher taxes won’t get anyone hired and higher taxes do not create jobs. But if the Democrat-controlled Congress fails to act during this lame duck session, the American people will see the largest tax increase in our nation’s history. In order to keep working families, small businesses and family farms from facing a tax increase, this legislation would make the current tax rates permanent so no American faces a tax increase on January 1. The best way to start to spur job creation and get the economy moving again is to preserve the current tax rates, and when the new Republican majority begins serving in the House of Representatives early next year, I look forward to taking up pro-growth policies that ensure fiscal discipline, regulatory reform and additional tax relief.”
“The bill we are introducing today is simple: it stops huge tax hikes that would kill over a million jobs by permanently extending current tax rates for every American,” said Senator DeMint. “Our nation’s economy is struggling and the worst thing we can do is raise taxes on families and small businesses. If we give employers certainty that their taxes will not be increased, they can plan, invest, build new plants and hire new workers. Washington has already tried and failed to spend our way out of this bad economy, and now it’s time to enact low tax policies we know will work to help create jobs. Once we stop these tax increases, next year Congress must also focus on repealing Obamacare, passing a balanced budget amendment, and cutting unnecessary regulations and wasteful spending.”
The Pence-DeMint Tax Relief Certainty Act would:
· Make permanent the 2001 and 2003 individual income tax relief for all hard-working Americans, preserving the 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33% and 35% income tax brackets, rather than allowing President Obama and Democrats to increase the top tax bracket to 39.6% and increase taxes on the lowest earning Americans in the bottom 10% bracket.
· Permanently repeal the immoral and unfair death tax;
· Prevent the tax increase on the maximum tax rate on capital gains and dividends income for all Americans, rather than allowing the Democrats to increase the rates to 20% and 39.6% respectively, from the current 15%; and
· Permanently patch the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) by increasing the AMT exemption.
The effects of passing The Pence-DeMint bill are significant as we must prevent the largest tax increase in history. Specifically, this bill would help:
· Save 500,000 jobs that could be lost if the death tax were to return from zero this year to a rate as high as 55% for 2011;
· Save 680,000 jobs and prevent the decline of personal incomes by over $1,600 if the capital gains and dividends rate were increased;
· Save nearly 50 million Americans from facing higher taxes due to the AMT over the next 10 years;
· Create 1.5 million jobs by fully repealing the death tax; and
· Protect the nation’s largest job creators from higher taxation by preventing a tax increase on half of all small business income and nearly 750,000 small businesses. According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses employ over half of the nation’s private sector workforce, more than 60 million Americans. 21.6 million of those jobs are provided by small businesses with less than 20 employees.

Elections have consequences. Refer to 2008 if you don't get that.
And be sure to get your friends to vote Republican. We have to win big so the Democrat's cheating won't matter.
NPR. PBS. The National Endowment for the Arts. Public Sector Unions.
All of these entities take our hard earned taxpayer dollars, and often use them for purposes against the will or best wishes of those who provide the money.
Juan Williams. Nova. The Piss Christ. Teacher Strikes.
Just a few of the actions of those groups.
And here's a good way to consider how many folks feel about that crap:
"If liberals want to understand how conservatives feel about NPR, they should ask themselves this: How would I feel if I knew that every time I paid my taxes, a tiny little bit of it was going to Rush" - Kyle Smith
Yeah. Seems like it might make them liberals a bit angry. Point made.
Yup. Elections have consequences. And uninformed voters create these consequences.
"The Democrats’ decision not to hold a vote on taxes until after the election, at the earliest, offers Republicans the opportunity to adopt a simple, powerful campaign message on taxes: Your taxes are going up, and it’s the Democrats’ fault. There’s no need to get into the details of middle-class tax cuts vs tax cuts for the rich. All of them are going to go up.
Republicans have tried for years to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, and Democrats have balked. They have said–they still say–that they want to keep the middle-class tax cuts and shelve the rest. But they have done nothing to make this alleged goal a reality, even with their huge majorities in Congress and control of the White House. They have not moved a bill to keep the middle-class tax cuts. And now they say they have no intention of doing so before the election."
From the Weekly Standard: "Your taxes are going up, and it’s the Democrats’ fault."
Yes. You. Your Fault. So do something about it this election. Don't vote for Dingell or that Hansen Clark person. Vote for the Republicans. All of them.
OCT 3 UPDATE: They were scared. (no shit!) Rendell: Dems were 'too scared' to hold tax cut vote before campaign recess
Not me. I've tuned out the SOB since he got elected. Appropriate comments from Doctor Zero: The Palin Card
"Let me put this bluntly: virtually no one in America gives a damn what Barack Obama says about anything at this point. What could be more predictable, and less interesting, than Obama’s opinion on any given subject? Who wants to contemplate the economic wisdom of a guy who looted the Treasury for a trillion dollars, with less benefit than we could have achieved by stuffing hundred dollar bills into random cereal boxes? Who’s excited to hear about the next plan to convert taxpayer dollars into Democrat campaign funds? Who’s hungry for another hour of tedious excuses about permanently broken markets and the titanic dead hand of George W. Bush? Who wants a lecture on ethical business practices from the titular head of the party that gave us Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters? What use is another hollow foreign-policy speech from a man who sees no global adversary to rival the menace of Arizona? Even Obama’s supporters don’t hear anything he says any more. There’s nothing left to hear."
Except "I resign" or "I concede the election to ..insert Republican here.."
Just read this. Be Angry. Vote for Republicans in November.

The Komaki, Japan Sister City Delegation is now here, touring Wyandotte. The News-Herald has a short blurb about the visit...

WYANDOTTE: City serving as host to delegation from Japan
By Jim Kasuba / News Herald
WYANDOTTE — The city is serving as host to a delegation from Komaki, Japan, beginning today.
During their stay, the delegation will take part in several events in the city, as well as tour the historic Ford Rouge Factory in Dearborn.
A tour of Wyandotte is scheduled for Friday, beginning with a visit to the Purple Heart Memorial at the corner of Biddle Avenue and Superior Boulevard, and then a tour of the Ford-MacNichol Home just down the street.
The delegation’s trip is part of a sister-city exchange that began in 1963 as part of a program initiated by President Dwight Eisenhower. Over the years, delegations from Wyandotte also have traveled to Komaki. A trip is planned this fall.
The highlight of the Wyandotte trip will be a celebration dinner on Saturday at the Wyandotte Arts Center.

I don't know about you, but the Purple Heart Memorial doesn't seem like the proper venue to take a group of Japanese tourists to visit. I mean, why take honored guests to see a memorial that glorifies the folks who killed their grandfathers?
It is so sorry, and does not reflect well on our City.
The election coming up in November will certainly be a barn burner for the Republicans. Hopefully they can come up with some policies to match the mood of the voters.
For those of you who might be considering the Democrats, I offer this excerpt from the American Spectator:
"Last year, on national television, President Obama was questioned by George Stephanopoulos of ABC News about whether the individual mandate in his health care legislation was a tax violating that pledge. Before the whole nation, President Obama carried on an extended discussion concerning how it could not possibly be a tax, regardless of what the dictionary says.
But last week, as reported by the New York Times, the Obama Administration filed documents in federal district court in Florida arguing that the individual mandate in the Obamacare legislation is constitutional because it is a tax. If it's a tax, then it's a direct violation of the pledge candidate Obama made to get elected not to raise taxes on working people. The President is talking out of all three sides of his mouth on this one. He thinks he can play you for a fool."
